CBRN OPERATIONS
Conditions: You are in MOPP level 2 when you suspect a chemical/biological attack.
Understanding This Task
9 seconds to don, clear, and seal your mask — this is one of the hardest time standards. You start the moment you open the mask carrier and stop when the mask collapses against your face on the seal check.
RSDL decontamination: Scrub exposed skin, break mask seal to scrub face, reseal immediately. Avoid eyes and wounds. Do NOT apply to mask lens.
GAS! GAS! GAS! — you must shout this AND give the hand-and-arm signal.
Common NO-GO Mistakes
- Exceeding 9 seconds to don, clear, and seal — instant NO-GO
- Not shouting "GAS! GAS! GAS!" — graded step
- RSDL on mask lens (causes loss of transparency)
- RSDL in eyes or on wounds
Task Basis: 031-COM-1004, 031-COM-1006, 031-COM-1011
