MARK CBRN-CONTAMINATED AREAS

15 minutes

Conditions: CBRNE weapons deployed. Contamination located and identified. You have M328 CBRNE marking kit. MOPP 4.

Understanding This Task

You must correctly select and emplace CBRNE markers based on the type of contamination. There are 5 marker types: ATOM (radiological), ATOM-TIR (toxic industrial radiological), BIO (biological), GAS (persistent chemical), and TOXIC (TIC/TIB).

Marker placement: BIO, GAS, and TOXIC markers are placed 200 meters BEFORE the contamination is detected. All markers point AWAY from contamination.

Minimum 3 total markers: 1 initial + 2 additional, 10-100 meters apart, line-of-sight visible.

Common NO-GO Mistakes

  • Markers must point AWAY from contamination (warning faces outward)
  • Markers at WAIST HEIGHT, right-angled apex downward
  • Missing required info: agent name, concentration, DTG detection, DTG detonation
  • Fewer than 3 total markers
  • Wrong marker type for the contamination

Task Basis: 031-COM-1003

Timer: 15 Minutes
15:00
Critical Notes
  • Markers point AWAY from contamination (warning faces outward).
  • Markers placed at WAIST HEIGHT, right-angled apex downward.
  • All markers require: agent name/symbol, concentration, DTG detection, DTG detonation.
  • Minimum 3 total markers. Performed in MOPP 4.

PERFORMANCE MEASURES

0/2 GO
  1. 1

Employ CBRNE markers based on contamination type

    • ATOM marker: Radiological/nuclear contamination. Place at 1 cGyph or more. Print: DTG, dose rate, DTG of detonation.
    • ATOM marker (TIR): Toxic Industrial Radiological. Place at 2 uGyph or more.
    • BIO marker: Biological agents. Place 200 meters BEFORE contamination detected. Print: agent name, concentration, DTG detection, DTG detonation.
    • GAS marker: Persistent chemical agents. Place 200 meters BEFORE contamination. Print: agent name, concentration, DTG detection, DTG detonation.
    • TOXIC marker: Toxic Industrial Chemical (TIC) or Toxic Industrial Biological (TIB). Place 200 meters BEFORE contamination.
  2. 2

    Emplace 2+ additional markers

    • Place markers 10-100 meters apart depending on terrain.
    • All markers must be line-of-sight visible.
    • In open terrain, raise to height permitting viewing at up to 200 meters.
