HAND GRENADES
Conditions: You have been directed to employ hand grenades against a variety of enemy targets in an urban environment.
Understanding This Task
This is a three-part task. Part I is a written identification test — you must correctly identify all 6 grenade types with 100% accuracy. Part II requires you to engage a target 35 meters away in the open within 30 seconds. Part III requires engaging through a window, door, or bunker at 10 meters within 1 minute.
Left-handed throwers: Invert the grenade with the top of the fuse facing downward. Twist the pull ring away from the body.
Common NO-GO Mistakes
- 100% accuracy required on grenade identification — all 6 types
- Removing safety clip or pin before grenade is about to be thrown
- Exposing yourself to enemy for more than 3 seconds while observing target
- Not seeking cover after throwing
- Grenade must land within 5m radius (open) or within the opening (urban)
Starting Configuration
Part I: Pictures or training grenades, laminated answer sheet, alcohol pens.
Part II: Two training grenades with fuses, secured in pouches. Silhouette at 35m with 5m radius circle.
Part III: Two training grenades, building/bunker at 10m, covered starting position.
